Dear Students,

Congratulations on your admission to Dr. D. Y Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune and welcome to this incredible, multi-generational, and inclusive community of learning. This is the moment you have been waiting for..... a new beginning, your journey as a student here.

I am thrilled that we will have the opportunity to begin a new year of our academic lives together. I have seen our community come together in good times and in challenging times - pushing one another to become more thoughtful and engaged citizens and supporting one another in times of need. As you prepare for your arrival on campus, I want to encourage you to consider how you will use your time here, where you will devote your talents, and what you might do to contribute to the Vidyapeeth community. While it might be easy to continue familiar patterns in a new place, I want to remind you that your past does not define you. During your stay here, strive to make a difference. I encourage you to be open to new ideas, experiences, and directions. You will be learning from the greatest in the field and with the best and the brightest surrounding you, and will undoubtedly be challenged to think about new topics or view old topics in new ways. You never know when something might pique your interest.

You have chosen DPU expecting an education, but you will leave with so much more. Here, you will author your own story, and in the process, you will help write the next chapter of Vidyapeeth's story as well. The community of friends and colleagues you will find here is like no other. Every day, you will learn from professors and your peers and feel supported by an amazing group of mentors and colleagues. When milestones are accomplished, or when it’s time for your first professional presentation, your oral exams, or even the “job talk,” there will be an endless number of people willing to spend as many hours as you need listening to you practice, providing you with feedback, and helping you fight with your bullets in Powerpoint (it will happen!). And if life throws you a curveball, the entire community will rally around you to offer support, guidance, and a shoulder to cry on. Not once will you feel alone while you are here.

There is no other place quite like DPU and I hope you find this to be true as well.

I conclude by offering you some simple advice on how to make the best of your experience here at the Vidyapeeth. Share your knowledge and skills; don’t keep them to yourself. Challenge yourself and your peers on a daily basis. Embrace one another’s passions for children, education, communities, policy, and practice. Absorb everything. And above all, have fun. You have the power to change peoples’ lives - the lives of students, faculty, and staff. And I look forward to doing this with you!

Dr. Bhagyashree Patil, is the vice-chairperson of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Society, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pune who is a strong believer in Empowerment through knowledge.

She along with her husband, Dr. Prasad D. Patil pioneered many Prestigious Educational colleges & institution under Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Society, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pune. All these institutions have State of Art facilities.

She is an able administrator in the field of education & she believes that Education can transform our country and uplift the Poor section of our Society. She is involved in the administration of educational institutions right from Primary to the professional colleges.

She is an educationist and philanthropist. In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, she is considered to be a woman who stood up for dedicated service and is known among her contemporaries as an iconic figure. The ubiquitous educationist has always been known for her indomitable spirit and her penchant to work for the betterment of society.

From her childhood, she had evinced an interest to work for the downtrodden and oppressed women. She wanted to make their lives better and meaningful by making them economically independent so that they can sustain themselves and their family. To achieve that, the effervescent lady realized that education matters. It is the key to the future. Through education, one can get empowered and bring the required change to their lives and neighbourhood.

In the field of education, she has always emphasized the need for innovation in the system. She believes that the purpose of education is to develop balanced growth of every aspect of a human being, which is impossible without innovation. To fulfil this, she has worked out a plan for bringing about a paradigm shift in terms of achieving academic outcomes.

Today, all the institutions under her tutelage, have reached the acme of excellence due to her untiring efforts and zeal. She runs these institutions as she lives her life: with generosity, compassion and thoughtfulness.

Dr. Bhagyashree Patil knew her true calling is working with people to serve the community. Through her initiatives, she has become a role model for women and an advocate of women and girl child.

Today, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, which is deemed to be University in Maharashtra, Pune has reached the zenith. It is considered to be one of the best Universities across the country and the world.

Under her guidance in Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Departments of Cardiology, Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Plastic Surgery and Paediatric Surgery, Neuro surgery, Urology Nephrology dept. & interventional Radiology were established. Courses like Ph.D., Fellowship and Certificate Courses in clinical specialties were also commenced.

She has proven that anything is possible if you are passionate about your beliefs. She moves ahead with continued passion, dedication & devotion for the betterment of society. She strongly believes that one must have a focused dedication towards achieving their goal and the willingness to perform tirelessly.

Dr. Bhagyashree Patil has received many accolades and awards for her contributions in various fields and has donned many hats in her sprawling career. As for the future, she looks forward to continuing her work on the issues close to her heart such as supporting women, girl child and helping them to live fuller and healthier lives. The lady with the invincible verve has been instrumental in introducing and implementing many constructive and socially relevant programmes in the various colleges and institutes of the University.
